ISDIN website

Barcelona, 2005

Based in Barcelona, ISDIN is Spain's largest skin care products manufacturer. They occupy a very distinctive market segment: science-based, non-prescription skin care for adults and children.

They use the wider health care system, including pharmacies and other specific outlets, as their main product pipeline, thus differentiating themselves from beauty or anti-ageing skin care brands.

I designed and art-directed their new website, which I based on the dual themes of skin and science.

We organised two photoshoots, one for each theme, to produce original photography for the client to use in any media.

The result was an simple, original, very on-brand delivery.

The themes of skin and science were alternating themes, and were never shown together.

Each time a visitor enters the homepage, a new image is displayed from the other theme. The system remembers each user and makes sure images are not repeated until they are all seen once.

Colour use on the rest of the website is restricted to product shots and interactive elements only, in order to retain the impact of the original photography.

Skin photoshoot

We used four models for the skin photoshoot: a young woman, a child, an elderly lady and a young man (see below).

Skin final images

The final images reflect the demographic distribution of ISDIN's target audience.

They were only retouched to remove colour, retaining all their original detail including wrinkles and stretchmarks.

Science final images

We also went to ISDIN's lab outside Barcelona and created some original imagery to represent science generally, using whatever props we could find that day.
