Operational Innovation Initiative at Thomson Reuters

The Life Sciences Division of Thomson Reuters produced publications regularly in print and PDF format. This mode of content delivery failed to meet modern user requirements, thus significantly limiting the business potential of such content.

I applied for, and won, an Operational Innovation Fund to manage the design and production of a product that enabled an elegant and consistent reading experience of scientific content across all devices.

THE CHALLENGE

Thomson Reuters Life Science division still produces many scientific publications in PDF format. This fails to meet modern user requirements, thus significantly limiting the business potential of such content.

SOLUTION

Leveraging the excellent print design properties of an existing product to create a set of design guidelines and interface code that displays content consistently and elegantly across all devices.

MY ROLE

I conceived the project, gained support from senior leadership and won an Operational Initiative award. With it, I hired a development team and managed the project, as well as provide design direction.
